China Jade
“China Jade” is a profound celebration of hope, creation, and the universe’s mysteries, dedicated to my sister, China Jade. This art piece draws inspiration from the majestic Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the Autonomous County of Lijiang, Yunnan province, China. As her parents explored the towns and mountains of Dragon Jade Mountain while she was a few months old in the womb, their journey symbolically connected them to the powerful energies of this ancient landmark.
The art piece also incorporates the power of the dragon, represented as a mandala, reflecting its significance in the Year of the Dragon when China Jade was born. This element pays homage to my grandmother’s iconic art, as her mandalas were a central part of her creations. The flowers depicted are peach blossoms, symbolizing the rebirth and beauty of springtime, aligning with the season of her birth and the start of a new year. These blossoms represent the blooming of life and the beauty that emerges with each new beginning.
The jade necklace, discovered a year before her conception at a thrift store, became a cherished symbol of luck and connection. With its unique engravings and genuine jade, this necklace seemed to align with her name when it was announced, reinforcing the sense that the universe had a hand in her naming and presence. This piece wraps her in luck and protection, serving as a testament to the mystical intertwining of fate and family, and highlighting that her arrival was indeed meant to be.
At the bottom of the piece, symbols represent the material world and the transition from the universal to the tangible. The six chakras are depicted, symbolizing her grounding and integration into the material realm, while connecting her with the broader cosmic energies from which she emerged.
